About Me
The writer behind the words.
Jodie, writer at Ink and Impulse
JODIE
Hi — I’m Jodie. A name I have an arguably unreasonable dislike for, much to my husband’s amusement.
I love to write, and generally love being creative, so after completing my degree a little later in life than most, I enrolled on a Creative Writing Master’s Degree — because six years of undergraduate study somehow didn’t put me off.
“What better writing material than exploiting one’s own difficulties for public entertainment?”

After I finished the master’s — completed it, mate — I thought, now what? The course gave me many opportunities to write, and I wanted to carry on. I had multiple projects going in various states of completion: a novel, some short stories, and poems, but I wasn’t getting any of them out there.

Enter blogging.

My aim and direction can be a little haphazard, probably due to my unmedicated ADHD (yes, I’m one of those people), but I’m hoping to bring readers some funny and interesting things to read, some tips on writing yourself, and a little about my journey — how I’ve lived, studied, written and worked with neurodiversity.

Spoiler alert: it’s not easy. Life with two thousand mental tabs open constantly and always chasing the good stuff — dopamine — means things often get in the way of getting sh*t done. But here we are.

Enjoy…

— NOW YOU KNOW ME —
